T&T Leaders
T&T (Truth and Training) can encourage kids to explore the meaning of God’s grace and how it affects our relationship with Him and others. T&T is designed for kids in 3rd – 6th graders. With resources for both kids and leaders, T&T focuses on the fundamental doctrines of the Christian faith and guides them to a deeper understanding of God’s grace.
Children will enjoy three segments of T&T each week. The unique design and strategy of Large Group Time, Small Group Time, and Game Time combine for an exciting ministry that builds a strong foundation.
LARGE GROUP TIME
Large Group Time focuses on teaching and includes an inspiring Bible lesson that ties in directly with the kid’s handbook.
SMALL GROUP TIME
During Small Group Time, leaders will engage in relational discipleship with a small group of kids to discuss the main points of the week’s lesson, spend time praying for each other, practice memory work, and recite Scripture.
GAME TIME
Children play fun, age-appropriate games and work as a team during Game Time.
T&T Age Characteristics
T&T kids are typically between the ages of eight and twelve and are in 3rd through 6th grade. This is a critical stage where kids need a lot of grace for themselves as well as for each other.
The T&T curriculum is purposefully designed to lead kids to understand the grace God has shown to us and what that grace looks like in relationship with Him and others.
Understanding what T&T kids experience at this stage of life will help you engage with them and model a personal relationship with Jesus.
T&T STUDENTS ARE:
Moving from concrete to abstract thinking.
Becoming more independent in their thought and actions.
Eager to learn and ask questions.
Starting to identify and develop talents and abilities.
Beginning to find their identity in Christ.
Becoming aware of those around them.
THEY MAY ALSO:
Like rules and need order.
Seek acceptance and want to belong.
Have abundant energy.
May be messy or disorganized.
Desire justice and fairness.
Awards
Throughout the year, each child can earn patches to display on their uniform as they progress through the handbook. The goal is to complete one handbook per year. If a child does not complete his or her handbook by the end of the year, they will start a new handbook at the beginning of the next. They may still work to complete the unfinished handbook on their own time to earn awards.
Kids who earn awards are recognized each week. T&T kids can earn a patch for every four sections they complete. So, for instance, if a child completes sections 1.1, 1.2, misses 1.3, but then completes 1.4 and 1.5, he would get an award. Of course, if he goes back and makes up sections that were previously not met, that would be included in the "every four" count as well. With a total of 32 sections in a handbook (two in the Start Zone and 30 in the handbook), a child can earn up to eight award patches a year.
